When others ask what I "do for a living," after I tell them, many will say, "Oh, you are living my dream."
Now, I'm certain this sentiment is probably not meant to describe their desire to be a clinical social worker (which is my day job), but rather their desire to have the time, the resources or the inclination to explore new horizons and to try on their dreams. Certainly, the deepness of human experience is the very desire to meditate on the possibilities of exploration and having the opportunity for it. Former Apollo astronaut Frank Borman once said, "Exploration is really the essence of the human spirit."
I have been fortunate not only to have a career as a social worker (remind me I said that the next time I have a bad day) and the time to live dreams beyond my career. Living my dream has come with some sacrifice, some growing pains, disappointment and failures, but the flip side has been grand beyond measure. Exploration for me has been more than having a business, it has been the process of growing from all that comes with it.
It is always about a couple weeks before I leave for yet another trip to my favorite destination that I remind myself how far our little Confectionique has grown, how much I have learned and how much there is left to explore. I am living my dream. I hope that you are living yours as well. Whether it be growing a beautiful garden, running a marathon, raising children or finally getting the job you always wanted, may you know the deepness and connection to what you dream of most.
If Paris is your dream, we hope you will follow along on our September 2015 journey as we explore the familiar and find the unexpected, meet up with old friends and make new ones, explore the flea markets Paris and find the most perfect little treasures.
Merci beaucoup to all of you for all your love and support.
