Out of Ideas....

Be my Valentine
I dream about the shop. I often count on my dreams to help me come up with new shop themes, interior design ideas and crafts. In my dreams, there are no limitations with money, colors -- or gravity, for that matter. My mind is free to accept the most unbelievable creative magic. So, I was a bit concerned when I wasn't dreaming about creativity over the past couple of months. I worried when I would go in my craft room and  just wander rather than dive in. I thought to myself,  "I am out of ideas!"  It's like the commercial when the husband was initially so proud of himself for getting 'to the end of the Internet', but quickly grew concerned and wondered out loud, "Now what am I going to do?"  This was me. I used up all my creativity. I used all my ideas too fast. I didn't save anything in the creative reserve, I am tapped out. I have reached the end of creativity!

So, I wandered and waited. I was like Yukon Cornelius in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, looking for precious metals by tossing his pick axe into the air, letting it land in the snow, then licking the end of his pick axe and declared with disappointment, "Nothing."

Sensing my distress, my husband said, "Why don't you take that new giant hole punch I bought you for Christmas into your craft room and use it on something, anything?" I took his advice. I found cute paper and just starting punching. What is it about new craft tools? It worked! I am happy to say that new ideas come to me through my dreams and new tools. It also makes me think that I need to be a bit more purposeful in approaching creativity. I shouldn't wait for my dreams or the pick axe to land in the right place.

Jessica and I look forward to seeing your at our Winter Delights for Winter Doldrums Market beginning Thursday January 12 at 5:00. As you can see, we will be featuring some sweet Valentine treasures along with other delights to make your January bright.
