The "Destiny" card

I had a chance to thrift today and it has been a while.  I have to be careful when I thrift after taking a disciplined hiatus from finding new treasures because I seem to excited about every single possibility.  So today, I was playing the "destiny" card.

If I walk by it and it's here when I come back, it's meant to be-it can come home with me to be re-created.

Except this basket of thimbles.  I picked them up immediately.

I have a soft spot in my heart for collections of found items. I especially can't do the "destiny" walk if it looks like it's a personal collection that someone had.  Somehow there's a special allegiance that takes place where I must make the treasures live on in a re-created sort of way.

So I brought it home with my other treasures and proudly and gingerly unwrapped the cellophane covering the basket to reveal my special find to my family.  They were all sort of silent at first but I think that they knew from the little smile I had on my face that these were something special.  My dear hubby then dared to ask hesitantly, "What are you going to do with them?"

I looked at him confidently and said-"Something special-these were once someone's special treasures."

Have you found any special collections you've felt compelled to save?
